2008 International Volcom Wild In The Parks: Spain Results

Saturday 24th of May. Alcorcon Skatepark, Madrid - Everybody thought that the day was going to be rained out, but then the sun came out and showed its face…so we could run our anticompetition. People from all over Madrid showed up among some more heads from from the rest of Spain. Syme from Malaga, Gorkita from Bilbao and many more showed up and were ripping that day. About 120 competitors registered, even a small group of girls.

With friends like Danny Lozz, Yeyo, Oskar, Elis and more helping out, the event happened successfully and on time…at 13:00h we started the first heats. The young guns skated hard, and we realized that the young kids are killing it harder than ever… and then the Over 16 group didn’t disappoint at all, for that matter. After that we had a little break for lunch. Nines and her crew made a million sandwiches for all, which were crucial to get energized enough to skate the whole day through.

The level increased considerably for the finals. Young Danny Leon showed his skills in the transitions, skating like a lion. The Girls also had their say and they impressed the crew. Cuca landed a fabulous kickflip over the euro-gap.

The over 16 group put on a big show. Borja Ciego, Kini, Carlos de Getafe, Kruman, David Sanchez, Alex Orio, Dani López de Ipiña and lots more pulled out their hammers and the session was incredible. Finally there were a few minutes for the best trick competition, which was won by Nico with an Amazing 360 flip over a grip of stairs. The Prize ceremony and a downright sketchy giveaway toss (riot) ended a happy day for all.

Tons of thanks to everyone involved: Mikel, Gore, Danny Lozz, Oskar, Elis, Yeyo, Nines, Nessa, Michael, Morche, Ayto de Alcorcon and industries: Jart, Alai y Vans for the extra goodies. Hasta el año que viene!
