2008 International Volcom Wild In The Parks: Sweden Results
For the third year in a row we went down to visit our friends Nils and John at the Bryggeriet Skatepark in Malmoe. It´s an amazing park complete with a vertramp, two pools, different streetcourses and the kids are always very motivated so it´s always a blast to go down there! This year was no exception with 110 kids entering the Wild In The Park. As always we started out with the under 15 category were we saw rippers as young as 6 years killing it in the course. With just under 60 starting in the -15 category we did 3 heats to decide which lucky 15 would end up in the final. Malmoes own Christian Sandell qualified first with some very impressive moves!
After the juniors it was time for the big guns to enter the course. Just like the juniors, 3 intensive heats were gonna decide who ended up in the final. A lot of the guys, like Josef Scott, we´ve seen since their juniordays and it´s amazing to see how good they´ve become. Besides Josef we also saw some amazing riding from Simon "Slomo" Andersson, Fernando Bramsmark, Emre Yercok and Jesper Karlsson just to name a few. After three highly intense heats it was time for a short lunchbreak before we kicked off the finals.
WIth Turbonegro urging the kids to "Get it on" we started the junior finals with our best 15 riders. The level was a lot higher in the finals and the kids really stepped it up a notch. Just like before Christian Sandell teared the course apart with very technical skating on all three obstacles (2 boxes and one kink/rail-setup). Another ripper was Alexander Risvad from Denmark who took the bridge over from his native country to participate in the Swedish WITP.
After a short break it was time to unleash the seniors. If the judges had a difficult job during the qualifications it got a lot harder now. What an amazing final! Insane riding from all 16 riders!! In the end it was once again Josef Scott who was on top (just like last year). He rode consistant all day on all three obstacles and deserved the win!! Simon "Slomo"Andersson ended up second. He also won the best trick competition after the finals. The "Electric Hype of the day" price ended up in the hands of Fernando Bramsmark along with a wildcard to the finals in Amsterdam.
