Girl Skate Jam UK is celebrating its fifth birthday at the pioneer skatepark, with the announcement of the date for Girl Skate Jam UK 08!
The comp will follow on from the success of the previous four competitions at the Pioneer, which have seen girls from around the UK and Europe come together to skate and compete. Last year’s event was attended by girl skaters from all over the UK and girls also attended from Spain, Belgium and Italy.
The all female skate jam and competition will take place at the Pioneer Skatepark, St Albans on Saturday 14 June 2008 from 1pm to 6pm.
The day will consist of a jam for all girls to skate and have the opportunity to meet female skateboarders they may not know, followed by competitions for those who would like to take part.
There will be competitions for under 18s, over 18s, one for sponsored girls, a miniramp competition for all ages and a best trick competition. There will also be a prize for the unfortunate skater who has the “best slam” of the day.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third placed skaters in each competition. Prizes will include skateboards, clothing, stickers, hardwear, shoes and assorted accessories. The winners of each category will also be presented with a commemorative trophy.
All girls who attend will receive a competitor’s entry bag which will include a t-shirt, stickers and some small items from some of our sponsors. Entry is £5 for skaters and £2 for spectators.
Jenna Selby and Jenny England, co-organisers of Girl Skate Jam UK, said: “We are stoked to be holding our fifth birthday event at the Pioneer skatepark and 7th GSJ competition overall.
“The previous competitions have all been really great fun, and the standard of the girls skating has improved year-on-year. We look forward to attracting girl skaters from all over the UK and hopefully from across the continent again.
“We would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generosity and encourage any girls who would like to give skating a try to come along on the day.”
