2008 Vans Active Am: Riders List Announced - Active's third annual amateur invitational skateboarding contest, Active Am, brings back the excitement featuring the best of the best amateur skateboarders in a battle for $12,000 in cash and prizes.

2008 Vans Active Am: Riders List Announced

Active's third annual amateur invitational skateboarding contest, Active Am, brings back the excitement featuring the best of the best amateur skateboarders in a battle for $12,000 in cash and prizes. This year Active Am is bringing together over 35+ of the world's top amateur skateboarders. David Loy took the $5,000 cash prize for 2006, Wes Kramer took the $5,000 for 2007 and this year the $12,000 purse will be split up amongst the top three skaters of the day and the 'Best Trick of the Day' winner. Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 the new winner will be chosen by Judges; Hunter Muraira, Tim Gavin, Brad Staba, Ryan Weber, and Scuba Steve.

The confirmed 2008 Active Am contest skateboarders are: Andrew Langi, Brad Cromer, Brandon Westgate, Bryce Golder, Chris Pfanner, Chris Troy, Daryl Angel, David Loy, David Reyes, Davis Torgerson, Gilbert Crockett, Grant Taylor, Greg Myers, Jake Donnelly, James Hardy, Jamie Tancowny, Jimmy Carlin, John Dickson, Jon Goemann, John Motta, Justin Figueroa, Lamare Hemmings, Marius Syvanen, Marquis Preston, Massimo Cavedoni, Matt Bennett, Mike Anderson, Mike Franklin, Peter Raffin, Peter Watkins, Scott Decenzo, Theotis Beasley, Tony Cervantes, Vince Del Valle, Vincent Alvarez and Wes Kraemer.

The contestants will be judged in a 'jam session' format - after which, the top two skaters from 8 heats will advance to a semi final round. From the semi finals the top four skaters advance to a final jam. The purse breakdown is $6,000 First Prize, $3,000 Second Prize, and a $2,000 Third Prize. There will be a Skateboard.com, $1,000 Prize for the 'Best Trick of the Day'; which any one of the 35+ invited skaters can win.

Admission is FREE to all spectators who would like to witness history made for the third time. If you are unable to attend the event, Activerideshop.com will be hosting a Live Webcast provided by Reel Comp.com.

With over 35 of the world's finest skateboarders, expect nothing less than the best on November 22nd. Active Am, presented by VANS,and is sponsored by Red Bull, REAL, Thunder, Spitfire and Skateboard.com.
