Big Crowds and fun as Jaeger & Dandy demolish Tugun Wild In The Parks Skateboard Series August 9th, Tugun Skate Park
Queensland, Australia - The 2nd stop of the 2008 Wild In The Parks series tore through Tugun Skate Park, QLD Australia on Saturday August 9th.
The park was packed from the word go, hundreds of northern NSW and Queensland skaters and spectators came to shred hard and have fun at the end of the Gold Coast airport runway, Tugun skate park.
15 and Under division filled fast with four of the hottest first round heats seen with local talent dominating across all zones of the park. The final was a flurry of madness the entire time with Chase Jaeger throwing hammers in unstoppable fashion including a huge kick flip over the fun box to sess slide, solid transition flips across the hip and quarter pipe showing consistency and style the entire day taking the title with Casey Ainsworth in second and Sam Campbell third.
Girls division was all talent as the small but skilful field went out in a straight final hitting the hip, pyramid and quarter pipe like it was no-body’s business saw the crowd firing and the girls slamming tricks left, right and centre. Rianna Arnold from Melbourne had a solid mixture of transition and flip tricks on the pyramid including a fakie 360 flip to take first place with Shaki Lawson from Wurtulla and Aimee Massie of Varsity Lakes rounding out second and third respectively.
The 16 & Over (Open Division) final went into overtime as the lads didn’t stop till they couldn’t feel their legs. Joshua Brydon was looking the goods until Pat Dandy lost his t-shirt in the heat causing him to go even faster in the Gold Coast sun taking the win in the last 30 seconds racking up 3 trick lines including huge kick flips over the hip, nollie b/s 360’s in the quarter pipe, a f/s flip disaster, f/s flips to fakie over the hip with crail slides around the quarter, it was mental! Cody Worrall came in at third place with stylish flow everywhere including a big transfer across the quarter pipe to the flat bank sealing third position.
Each division’s top 3 finalists from each stop are invited to the OZ/NZ Wild In The Parks Championships on May 2nd where the Junior and Open division champions will be crowned and awarded Volcom paid trips to the United States to represent Australia and New Zealand in the World WITP Champs and battle for over $30,000.00 cash purse up for grabs.
