Volcom Stone's Wild In The Parks Skateboard Series 2008-09 Kicks off August 2nd, Manly skate park, NSW
Volcom Stone's Wild In The Parks skateboard series is kicking off at Volcom’s home, Keirle Park, Manly, NSW for the 2008-09 tour travelling across NSW, QLD, WA, SA, NZ and VIC.
Wild In The Parks is for young up and coming skaters to come out and show their skills. Think of the event like a best trick contest; skaters are judged on the tricks they pull, never on their bails. Wild In The Parks is about giving back to the skaters. With this in mind, the series is entirely free. There are absolutely no entry fees, so anyone can enter.
“Wild In The Parks was born when we noticed something needed to change in the amateur skateboard contest scene. We decided to take a different path, the road less travelled, and offer something new and entirely different. For those of you that are fed up with days of 1 minute runs, over and over again, we came up with a new jam format that alleviates both stress and boredom at events” says Volcom Event Manager Robbie “Wardo” Warden.
There are three divisions; 15 and Under, 16 and Over and Girls. Skaters under 18 need parents/guardian signature, download entry form at volcom.com.au and show up early to ensure a spot in the event, because they fill up quick! The Wild in the Parks is a great environment to hang out, eat some free food, skate, cheer on your friends, and go home with a ton of free prizes!
Volcom skate team including Chima Ferguson, Dustin Dollin, Shane Azar, Kieran Reilly, Jack Fardell, Lewis Marnell, Chris Woods, Stevo Dugec and Jake Duncombe will be at WITP events throughout the year to hang out, shred and have fun with the kids.
Each division’s top 3 finalists from each stop are invited to the OZ/NZ Wild In The Parks Championships on May 2nd where the Junior and Open division champions will be crowned and awarded Volcom paid trips to the United States to represent Australia and New Zealand in the World WITP Champs and battle for over $30,000.00 cash purse up for grabs.
