CJ Olivares Named General Manager for Fuel TV

Los Angeles, Ca - CJ Olivares has been tapped General Manager of action sports lifestyle network Fuel TV.  In his expanded role, Olivares assumes oversight of all day-to-day network operations. The announcement was made today by David Sternberg, Executive Vice President of Emerging Networks, Fox Cable Networks, to whom Olivares will continue to report.

"CJ's unique combination of enthusiasm, credibility and creativity influence the content and community that FUEL TV has come to represent," Sternberg said. "We're all confident in CJ's leadership, and look forward to his continued efforts to grow and evolve the business."

Since 2004, Olivares has served as Assistant General Manager, working on day-to-day management of programming, marketing, and new media applications. His new responsibilities will also include managing advertising and affiliate sales activities, as well as developing cross-platform opportunities, together with Fox Networks Group executives overseeing those areas. Olivares will similarly develop international channels and FUEL TV programming blocks in major territories around the world.

"After four years, FUEL TV is poised for further growth and success," said Olivares. "I'm eager to build on the momentum we've generated so far and appreciate this opportunity to establish FUEL TV as a powerful youth culture brand across multiple distribution platforms."

Olivares joined FUEL TV as its first employee in December, 2002 and has seen the network grow from 5 million homes to more than 24 million today. It has distribution agreements with every one of the nation's top ten cable providers and satellite distributor DIRECTV, and boasts mobile video distribution agreements with AT&T, Helio, MobiTV and others. Its popular series "Firsthand," "American Misfits" and "The Captain and Casey Show" are also available on iTunes, Amazon, AOL and CinemaNow.

Before coming to FUEL TV, Olivares was CEO of Broadband Interactive Group (BIG), producers of the action sports daily "Bluetorch," and also advised London-based Extreme Group Ltd. on its action sports strategy. He was director of program development and acquisitions for Fox Sports Net in 1997, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of Surfrider Foundation and is an active member of News Corporation's CoolChange energy initiative team.
