Vincent Thomas Bridges takes you into San Pedro

Channel Street Skatepark is always worth a stop

There were so many kids at the park early in the morning that I just skated a little and split. Here are a few old pics I took though. Robbie Russo frontal transfer

Josh freight trains through a corner as a real freight trains, freight trains past the park

From the young kids at San Pedro to the old dudes at Culver City. In addition to the guy ripping, in the background there is Pat, Jim and Phil. Pat was the drummer for Decry and the current drummer for Junkyard. Junkyard was kinda big in the glam-metal days. Brian Baker is (was) in the band, yea, Brian Baker from Minor Threat, Dag Nasty and Bad Religion. I used to hate Brian Baker because I was friends with Shaun Brown, the original singer that Brian Baker replaced but that was a long time ago. Jim, works at Powell and eats, drinks, sleeps and works skateboardoarding. Phil went to the same private school as Henry Rollins in DC and used to buy me beer in the days when I slept on Rob Mertz’s porch in Ocean City

Never growing up did I ever think that there would be a skateboard contest at a major movie studio. I still trip at the big crazy events like this and the X Games, Dew Tour and stuff. It’s sick that skateboarders get to make a living from contests, sponsors and stuff but we never would have imagined this and never really cared, we were too punk (and dumb cuz I probably would be rich had I followed my love of skateboarding/snowboarding instead of saying fuck the industry) anyway. Look at things now, crazy stuff

Paramount, a lot of history here

Without a doubt one of the best skaters of all time - John Cardiel. Always nice, always a good attitude. Right after this photo he wanted a Sharpie to sign a fans shirt ans was more than happy to let me look at his judges sheet to get the spelling of Jamie Tancowny’s name. Funny how often the great skaters are the nice humble dudes and the dude that are pricks are often the one that suck. Cards is definitely in the nice due, great skater category
