CROSLAND: Kicked Out of Burton Store, Cops Are Lame and Other Stuff - Had the most random few days this past weekend. Pretty much no plans at all and some cool stuff happened. So here is a completely random trip for you that is as un-focused as my life.

CROSLAND: Kicked Out of Burton Store, Cops Are Lame and Other Stuff

Had the most random few days this past weekend. Pretty much no plans at all and some cool stuff happened. So here is a completely random trip for you that is as un-focused as my life.

Friday at 6:45am saw some small but fun waves at San Onofre

Somehow women look better on longboards than men. Except for maybe Joel Tudor cuz he rips hard

Friday at lunch went down to the Volcom/Costa Mesa skatepark. Just as a I pulled up 3 cops cars came racing in, one even came across the grass to the back gate. I was thinking what the hell a bank robbery or something? It ended up they were just giving out tickets to skateboarders for not wearing helmets AND pads. All I gotta say is these cops are wasting tax money! The are supposed to serve and protect, not harass the citizens. Kids should be able to skate in park with being hassled by the man instead, cops gang up on them there. In the US we wonder why we have a huge drug problem. Well cops are part of the reason. Kids need a way to relieve frustration and skateboarding is perfect, unless you can’t skate anywhere not even skatepark. COPS QUITE HARRASING KIDS! Yea the kids maybe should have been wearing helmets (everyone over 18 should be able to whatever the fuck they want) but pads? We should make the cops drive around with 4 flat tires. Oh yea, I declined to skate

Friday night I went to another art show party in Venice. The dog went too

Don’t get out much so it was cool to hang with some humans

Live painting and body painting going down on the sidewalk of Venice. Not many years ago some gnarly probably happened here late at night on the 500 block of Roce Avenue in Venice

cool stuff! This art has nothing to do with Jeff Ho but Jeff Ho did stop by before going to see Face to Face in Hollywood. He was there for a few moments talking to the owner then left

Stopped by the Burton/Channel Islands/Alien Workshop store on Melrose in Hollywood. Was super stoked to see it. It’s like the Nordstroms of action sports, for better or for worse. There is a tree in there with tiny transitions to it. Twenty five bucks to the first photo I see of someone charging it without permision

Moving from San Diego to Pittsburgh as a young kid was a shock. A Burton Snowboard that cost $50 was my salvation in winter though when skateboaring was tough. I rode all Burton stuff from like 1982 or so until 1997. I rode one Sims board in there, a Terry Kidwell in 1987 I think, heres my first board “#342 hand made in Vermont” I always wonder if Jake himself made it

Now Burton has grown so big that it has bought out Channel Islands Surfboards and Alien Workshop. They had every CI board available, it was enough to make you foam at the mouth. Did not take any photos of the Alien Workshop skateboards side since skaters are too cool to shop at such a corporate spot, ha. I got a Habitat board cued to ride, now that I think of it

Now I ride different boards but Burton still has some of my favorite riders, here’s Mason Aguirre in Tahoe. Mason has some of the best 540’s out there

The Burton Love boards, I wanted a closer looks but was told by some guy in a Channel Islands hat “You can get a photo from the website”

Here is the last photo of the inside the store. The security guard started to mumble something, I ignored him and said “thanks have a good day” Shortly after Mr. Channel Islands hat told me “You have to leave if you want to take photos” and I did. Did not feel like asking about permission and stuff – f it, sick store though

The outside of the store. Oh yea, Pink, or a girl that looked just like her, was in the store getting extremeo

Walk of Fame. The mormons are getting heat for supporting prop 8 and baptising Jews after they die. Here is the star of the most famous Mormons, The Osmands

Manns Chinease theatre, down the street from HollyWood High. Manns is famous for movie stars or something

Stopped at the awesome new Fontana park Saturday night. Here is Lester transfering in the sick Roman/Amoeba. Had some beer with a friend and drove home
