Skateboarding in Cleveland... So I walked into the shop Wednesday to work and opened my gmail to instantly get a message from John Centi saying, "Brandon, I need you in Cleveland tonight for the Dew Tour, bring the crew". I made some phone calls and later that evening two carloads of us rolled into Cleveland around 6:30 or 7 pm. While waiting for John to meet us we started our first session on some ledges in a parking lot. Soon John pulled up and we took our stuff to the house then we all decided to go eat some pizza. As we were leaving the lot we spotted a pole jam on the side of the highway and stopped to session it for a bit. This pole jam was sick, pretty steep and nobody had sessioned it yet. So with a little wax and grinding the rust off it began. Some of the crew went back to the house and the rest of us went downtown to skate, including; Johnny Centi, Bill Cooley, Tyler Gustafson, Mark Reininga, Josh Samucha, and I (Brandon Moore). We parked by the stadium and where the Dew Tour was being held and started skating this really mellow 8 stair rail with a wedge to the left. After, we skated away from the car and down the road was a manny pad to about a 4 ft drop which was a lot of fun until a big black security guard lady who smelled like a French whore for a block approached us with hatred in her eyes and kicked us out. She didn't look very happy. So we skated away and came across a ledge to trash can which seemed to grab our attention, but all in all we had fun. With drinks on our minds we left and stopped at a row of 7 stair kinked rails and had some time there. This is where the first bad fall of the night was. It started with ollies and ended with a Front Board to me smashing my head off of the ground and my wrist bending back and touching my arm. That one hurt quite a bit but didn't stop the skating. We rolled down to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and skated some curved benches out front and thats when dehydration started to settle in. Thats when we all agreed to go home for the night and get some rest for tomorrow. Day 2 consisted of lounging around the house until the Dew Tour began. Warped Tour also was in Cleveland today which made traffic heavy. Walking out of the parking garage we ran into a scalper and purchased some tickets and went to go get our media passes. The skating was sick, and it was super hot out. We got several good photos and when the park prelims were over we rolled to Quiznos for some grub. Tyler, Johnny, Annemarie, and I decided to skip the first round of vert prelims to go shoot some sequence shots at a spot we skated last night. It turned out good, (check it out on the photo blog on skateboardrev.com). As we came back to the Dew Tour, we walked up the stairs as Shaun White was rolling in and blasting some serious air. After the comp, some of the crew had to go back to NY, leaving only 4 of of us left, John, Tyler, Annemarie, and I. We drove toward the center of town and skated what I call Cleveland's Love Park. The streets were loaded with skateboarders that night and crackheads here and there. The plaza had ledges, manny pads, stairs, rails, and bumps to skate and it was all on very smooth brick. Some of the kids from the Dew Tour started skating with us so the group got larger again. The kids we met took us to a college to skate where there were 3 seven stairs with rails. Some tricks went down and more photos were taken. All of us were exhausted from the trip and we just decided to go home and call it a night. The next day we packed up and rolled back home. Cleveland has a lot to offer for skateboarders so hit it up.
