ESPN X Games 14 Telecast Schedule

Masekela to Host with X Center’s Jacobson, Guest Analysts Include Carmichael, McGrath and Other Top Competitors

ESPN will kick off X Games 14 on Thursday, July 31, at 8 p.m. ET with X Games host Sal Masekela leading a skilled roster of on-air talent. ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will air 20 hours of live coverage of the X Games July 31-August 3 – all available in high definition. Additional coverage will be provided via ESPN360.com, EXPN.com, ESPN Classic, ESPN International, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center.

X Center, an hour long in-depth show hosted by ESPN First Take co-host Dana Jacobson, will lead the live coverage at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, July 31, and Friday, Aug. 1. X Center will also air Friday, Aug. 1, at midnight and will wrap up X Games 14 on Sunday, Aug. 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

This year’s event features several new disciplines, including BMX Street, Moto X Best Whip, Moto X Speed & Style, BMX and Skateboard SuperPark, Women’s Moto X Racing and Adaptive Moto X Racing.

Selema (Sal) Masekela worked his first X Games event in January 1999 as a snowboarding reporter during coverage of Winter X Games Three. Since then, he has worked every Winter X Games and X Games in a variety of capacities, including skateboarding and snowboarding host and X Games reporter. In 2001 at X Games Seven in Philadelphia, Masekela expanded his responsibilities to host ESPN and ESPN2’s overall coverage. Five months later (January 2002), Winter X Games Six from Aspen, Colo., marked the first time Masekela hosted the winter version of the premier action sports event. This past January, Masekela hosted his first Winter X Games SportsCenter. He is now also a co-host on E! Network’s The Daily 10.

Dana Jacobson joined ESPN as an ESPNEWSanchor in December 2002 and shortly after became a regular anchor on the 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter. In March 2005, she was named co-host of Cold Pizza, and transitioned with the show as it became First Take. Jacobson joined the X Games broadcast team in 2006, when she was brought on to host X Centerfor both the X Gamesand the Winter X Games.

Analysts include action sports personality Tes Sewell, who has covered the X Games on-air since 2003; Danny Way, first-time X Games broadcast team member and multiple X Games skateboard gold-medal winner; Steve Swope, BMX pioneer, former X Games competitor and eight-year member of the X Games broadcast team; Paul Page, a legendary voice in motor sports for more than 25 years; Jimmy Coleman, action sports host and X Games BMX broadcaster; Ricky Carmichael, the most decorated AMA motocross rider in the history of the sport; Jeremy McGrath, motocross icon; and Dave Duncan, legendary skateboard announcer and judge.

Other commentators include Doug Henry, Dennis McCoy, Chris Miller, Brian Deegan and Cameron Steele. Reporters include Kimberly Pressler, Erin Bates and Keir Dillion.
