Award-Winning, Alternative Hip-Hop Band Gym Class Heroes To Headline Music Stage With Special Guest Tyga At Portland’s Wendy’s Invitational On August 22
New York – The AST Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, today announced that alternative hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes will headline the Verizon Wireless music stage on Friday, August 22, at the third stop of the 2008 AST Dew Tour, Portland’s Wendy’s Invitational.
Gym Class Heroes are recognized as the true pioneers of live hip-hop performances. They made their mark on the music scene with their upbeat stage presence and the artists transcend musical boundaries with their combined rap, rock and R&B style. Recognized for their 2007 number one blockbuster, “Cupid’s Chokehold/Breakfast in America” the band went on to be named Best New Artist at MTV’s Video Music Awards that year.
The band’s highly anticipated third album, The Quilt, will be released on September 9th with guest vocals from the legendary Busta Rhymes, among others. The album’s first single, “Cookie Jar” recently hit the airwaves, and the accompanying video will premiere later this summer.
“We are excited to have Gym Class Heroes play at the Wendy’s Invitational in Portland,” said Wade Martin, AST President. “Their live performances are renowned and their hip-hop roots combined with their overall musical diversity is appealing to all music fans.”
“We are really looking forward to playing in Portland at the Dew Tour,” said Travis McCoy, lead vocalist. “We’re big fans of action sports and are pumped to put on a great show for the fans in Portland and hang out with the Dew Tour athletes.”
