The Philly AM 2 was held Saturday September 20th 2008. Early morning, the closer you got to Woodward Skatepark, the more skateboarders you saw. You could tell today was going to be a great day! Registration started at 9 AM and everybody was on the park floor warming up asap. Not a whole lot was going down right off the bat since most of the heavy hitters would't arrive until later about noon. The Grom division started at 10. These little guys really shred their hearts out. Being that they are just learning, they still gave it all they had to to throw down a good run. They all skated the beginner section of the park which included smaller pyramids, lower rails, quarters and wedges. After each division, raffles were held and prizes were givin. The intermediate kids went next, which were a little older and still on the verge of learning things. These guys put together some good runs and skated hard. Then after that, the advanced guys took over the course and started doing some bigger tricks. This was about the time you saw the heavy hitters arriving. There were quite a few guys here again that attended last years AM. The advanced guys nailed some sick tricks throughout their runs. Then it was time for the sponsored division to take their runs. These guys were solid! Most of the guys put together a flawless run. Every trick dialed, and only a few broken boards today. Later, was the best trick, which is always everyones all time favorite. It's set up like a jam session where everyone just goes and throws their best trick. Boards fly and carcasses arre tossed as everyone struggles to land something sick. Throughout the day the DJ mixed it up and played a good varriety of tunes. A big thanks to all the sponsors that provided for the event, Jon Crants, and Threesixteen for hosting. See you next year.
