Sole Technology hires Industry's First Environmental Manager
Lake Forest, Ca - Sole Technology, Inc., parent company of etnies, éS, Emerica, Altamont and ThirtyTwo, announced the addition of Roian Atwood, Sole Technology’s first Manager of Environmental Affairs to its leadership staff.
The company’s vision and full commitment to corporate responsibility already includes the installation of 616 solar panels, the conversion to water-based cement manufacturing and the launch of a sustainable footwear and apparel collection, the etnies SEED Project. Known for pioneering technological advances in skateboard footwear, Sole Technology has stayed true to its roots while pushing the envelope as a leader of sustainability in the industry.
“For the past several years, Sole Technology has been making strides in eco-business practices and now more than ever, we are implementing an aggressive company-wide sustainability strategy in which Roian is going to help lead and take to that next level,” says Pierre Andre Senizergues, founder and CEO of Sole Technology.
“I am passionate about the environment and my vision is to make a huge environmental impact in our industry. We all have to do our part, no matter how big or small, and by taking more and bigger steps, Sole Technology is doing its part.” As the new manager of environmental affairs, Atwood has been tasked to oversee a company wide environmental audit, which will calculate Sole Technology’s current ecological footprint and its future progression.
Atwood will also recommend and implement new environmental technology projects as appropriate to the company and its brands, assist footwear and apparel research and development teams in making products as non-toxic and environmentally friendly as possible, review all Sole Technology offices to become LEED Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and providing employees with greener alternatives while sharing the company’s successes as they unfold.
Before joining Sole Technology, Atwood held the position as American Apparel’s Director of Sustainability and successfully designed and implemented various environmental technology projects during his three year tenure.
Leading American Apparel’s organic product division, Atwood was also involved in all environmental initiatives of the company from major supply chain issues to employee commuter programs to achieving the company’s overall commitment of corporate responsibility.
