Sitting in the heart of the amazing Harajuku shopping district, October 2nd marked the grand opening of Volcom’s first store in Tokyo, Japan.
The grand opening party was full of the models, celebs and industry heads as well as 1000 + of Volcom’s closest family and friends. First, greeted by our wonderful Junko-san (shop manager) and her amazing crew of hotties in black dresses and with red tights, the crowds poured in, dozens at a time.
Stone shaped sushi, stone shaped cakes and Stone shaped cookies and plenty of champagne and booze to mark the occasion! Overwhelming and unforgettable is the only words that can describe the whole event.
With Dashenka’s art covering the walls as well as a surprise live painting and music session from our princess Prochazka, Dashenka’s energy definitely help provide the opening foundation for the stores overall atmosphere of inspiration and creativity for store as well as the brand itself.
And if that wasn’t enough for the crowds, plenty of camera flashes and hand shakes with two of our Volcom ambassadors and very amazing skaters: Darrell Stanton and Javier Sarmiento were there holding it down for the Stone!
Well what can I say, but the whole evening was again an amazing family event. The shop opening was definitely a defining moment for both Volcom and the overall industry in Japan. Centered in Tokyo’s hottest fashion street and biggest shopping district, the stone holds its own in the plethora of forward fashion inspiration.
By the way did I forget to mention the skate sessions at the shops built in half pipe?! Again unforgettable and overwhelming!
